Introduce Yourself

Please don't be shy - go on into the forum and introduce yourself in the new members thread there!

Your fellow ASC members - from newbies to old hands - are looking forward to meeting you.

To Ask a Question on the Forum

First do a search.

Your first task should be to “Search” the forum. The search button is located in the upper left side of the forum page. Click Search and you’ll be prompted with a “search for” box. Enter a short descriptive query. For example, if you want to learn what a trackback is, you may enter:

“trackback”

Now click the “Begin Search” button and wait for the results.

With luck, the query will return several entries (called “threads”) that are related to your query. Click on the thread(s) that seem most appropriate to your question.

Then post your question on the forum.

If the Search function did NOT return the answer you were looking for, then you should post a new “topic” in the forum.

First, browse through the main categories and find the one that seems to be most appropriate to your question. For example, don’t post a question about “Marketing” your site in the “Coaching” forum. Once you’ve found an appropriate category, click on its hyperlink. From the category’s home page, click on the “New Thread” button (on the upper left portion of your screen), this will open a new thread for you to post.

You’ll first be prompted for a subject. This should be a descriptive title for your post. It’s important to note here that this is what will be looked to when someone does a search in the future; you should always use language that is appropriate to your question, for example:

Good Post Title: “What is a trackback?”
Terrible Post Title: “HELP!”

In the space below your title you should enter a descriptive question. Include anything that you feel is relevant to your question. Of course, you should never reveal any passwords here. Once you’ve completed your question you should click the “Save Topic” near the bottom of the screen.

It can take anywhere from a few minutes to a day or so for a response. Be patient. Our members are always very helpful, but everyone is busy working on their own sites so it may take a while for the right person to see and respond to your question.

While you’re waiting for a response to your forum post - get busy working on another part of your online business, or come back and continue reading the ASC WIKI. Don’t just let your business come to a halt because you’re waiting for one answer.

There's always some area of your online business where you can keep moving forward!
