ASC Success Guide Step 5: Create Your Paper Sitemap

What is a Paper Sitemap?

Before you ever build a site, you need to plan your site “on paper” so you know exactly how you want to lay out your site and start filling in the gaps for content.

It's much easier to add, delete, and rearrange the structure and content of your authority site on paper. And once your paper sitemap is well filled in, it becomes a valuable tool that enables you to build, market, and monetize your site much faster!

What to Consider When Building Your Paper Sitemap

The research you've done so far should supply the information you need to make these decisions:

  • What content are you going to need for each section of the site?
  • Where does original content go and where does auto content (if any) go?
  • How many categories are you going to start with?
  • Which keywords will you isolate for your main domain and categories? Read up on Create Categories to help you work that out.
  • Also, peek ahead to the next step, ASC Success Guide Step 6:, so you can map out your decisions for your site's look and feel.

These are all things to think about as you get your paper site map together. They'll empower you to build a true plan for your site instead of starting to publish willy-nilly.

This step is part of a professional development plan for a site. This kind of thing is what makes it more likely that you’ll have a successful, profitable site.
